I tried this and it worked straight forwardly, seconds!!!

I had the problem when switching my library between computers... anyway, I used this very simple trick. I have my library automatically organized by itunes and copy files to iTunes folder. I then went to File:Add Folder to Library... I selected the whole of my itunes media folder. It automatically updated the files with no effort at all. All were present, listed in order and in a single listing in the podcast. Seconds!!! Good luck, James.
